House of Glory

Since husband and wife duo, Manny and Zach Velazquez opened House of Glory’s doors in 2021, their  artisanal dessert and cafe has become a staple in the Historic District. Hailing from Miami, part of their magic is the Cuban- Colombian culture and other global influences throughout their menu, from Pavlovas and Italian gelato to Cuban flan and passionfruit mousse. While their savory sandwiches and empanadas are equally swoon-worthy, they are perhaps best known for their cheesecakes, bubble waffles, and other desserts. Striving to serve the finest ingredients, the cafe’s menu is nearly entirely organic, with zero hydrogenated oils and everything is made from scratch in house. For Valentine’s Day, they’ll be offering Grab & Go gifts, heart-shaped desserts, a bubble waffle special, and there will be charcuterie/dessert boxes available to pre-order. Visit them Monday-Thursday 9am-8pm and Friday and Saturday 9am-9pm.

Dassh Bakery

Located in the heart of downtown’s Historic District, Dassh Bakery isn’t just a business, it’s a whole family affair. Husband and wife team, Doug and Ashley Hudson along with the help of their daughters will be celebrating the bakery’s 14th birthday this March. The space holds a special place in their hearts as it’s where the couple first met and fell in love when it was known as Shiki Sushi. While the scratch-made bakery’s most popular dessert items include lemon bars, cheesecakes, tiramisu, and eclairs, you’ll also find brownies, French macarons, scones, and cinnamon rolls. This year, they’ll be offering Valentine’s gift boxes filled with a cupcake, heart-shaped French macarons, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and brownies as well as custom orders. Drop by the bakery Monday-Friday 9am-2pm and Saturday 9am-12pm.

Sandi’s Candies & Fudgery

This Grants Pass chocolatier has spent decades perfecting her craft. For over 40 years, Sandi Crowder has cultivated quite a following for her famous chocolates and candies. Since the early days of running her candy shop in Morgan Hill, California and later opening her Grants Pass location in 1999, Sandi’s Candies’ home can now be found on Historic G Street. Known for its chocolate confections, including decadent hand-made fudges, toffees, and truffles, the shop also carries nostalgic candies, like licorice, salt water taffy, old-fashioned rock candy, jawbreakers, and other old-time goodies. Since 2020, the shop became the new digs for Blind George’s Popcorn, a Rogue Valley legend, featuring hot buttered corn along with several original flavors as well as new recipes! Every year for Valentine’s Day, they roll out their fresh dipped milk, white, and dark chocolate strawberries and also plan to have several sizes of Valentine Heart Boxes, packed with freshly hand-crafted chocolates and truffles. Boxes come with a good mix of creams, nuts, chews and specialty pieces. This year, Sandi’s Candies is offering gift box sets that include a combination of sweet items. Customers can choose between the “The Berry Sweet” , “The Sweet & Salty” or “The Sweetest Lil’ Gift Box” sets. Say “Hi” to Sandi and take home some candy Monday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturdays 10am-4pm.

Pennington Farms

Nestled in the heart of Applegate Valley, Pennington Farms is one of Southern Oregon’s most prized bakeries. This family-owned and operated berry farm has been dishing out baked goods from Pennington’s fruit since 1980. The family utilizes organic and biodynamic methods of farming, and every berry is handpicked. You also won’t find your run-of-the-mill berries here. They’ve cultivated more than 100 heirloom varieties, including tayberries (a Scottish hybrid of black raspberries and blackberries) and loganberries (a blackberry-raspberry cross from the 1880s). Though they specialize in berries, the farm’s orchard produces peaches, apples, figs, pears, and plums. Visit their cozy farmstand and bakery run by Kathy Pennington and her team, located in a rustic barn off of Williams Highway. Indulge in one of their scrumptious baked goods, take home some canned gifts and jams, and surprise your Sweetie with something farm-fresh, like their famous pies, cakes, chocolate peanut butter balls, and maple glazed pecan brownies.  Visit the farm Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-4pm.

G.G.Sugarplums Bakery

There’s something special about family traditions, and it couldn’t hold anymore true for Danielle Glarum’s G.G. Sugarplums Bakeshop. While children are more accustomed to being told to eat dinner before sweets, her and her sister’s grandmother, affectionally known as “GG Sugarplum”, would always say “Eat dessert first.” Today, she carries on the family tradition baking sweet treats from cupcakes and cookies to macarons and lavish cakes. All of their confections are made from scratch in house and frosted to order. Choose a cookie or cupcake and pick your candy toppings, sprinkles, and flavored frosting. This year, surprise your Valentine with a chocolate covered strawberry or champagne cupcake, festive marshmallow wand cake pops, or take home a 6-pack of assorted cupcakes. Later this spring, be on the lookout for their legendary pineapple dole whips and boba tea. Visit them Tuesday-Friday  10:30am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.
